A
disabled DJ has launched a crowdfunder to create a landmark club night that will
cater to ravers with disabilities.
DJ Tony Gurney is hoping to get Daylight, a drum and bass and jungle event for
clubbers with accessibility issues, off the ground in London.
Tony, who DJs under the name Groover
The Barbarian and is currently studying electronic music production, lives
with both Crohn's disease
and rheumatoid illness fibromyalgia.
Having also been a child carer to his older brother who had both spina
bifida and hydrocephalus,
who died of his illness in 2000, Mr Gurney has experienced first-hand the numerous
challenges that come with going out to a nightclub or music event as a disabled
person.
Clubbing making a difference
Now, he is determined to ensure those who have to deal with the likes of getting
a taxi, medication timing and getting to an accessible toilet have the chance
to party in an event designed for disabled people and their carers to attend.
